Foundation for Rural Development is a non-discriminatory, non-profit civil society organization established in 2006. FRD formally got registered with the department of social welfare Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, in June 2008. FRD.
FRD has been providing services to the poor community as part of humanitarian response in the phases of Emergency, early recovery, rehabilitation, and long term development in the sectors of Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Shelter/NFIs, Camp Coordination, and Camp management, Community infrastructure, Livelihood development, Non-formal education, and Natural resource management along with the Linkages development of grass-root communities with government and non-government agencies with a focus on community development and mobilization.
FRDs main target groups are the poorest and the poor segments. Still, being an inclusive organization, working to promote principles of harmony and peaceful co-existence within the society, FRD works with almost all socio-economic classes to establish open communication channels among various groups. FRD has been actively managing programs in erstwhile FATA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab regions of Pakistan.
FRD envisions a prosperous, peaceful, productive, and socially inclusive society where everyone can realize their potential. FRD’s mission is “to improve the quality of life in the underdeveloped areas through improving the socioeconomic conditions of people through equitable and sustainable utilization of resources and empowering the vulnerable and excluded groups.” The cross-cutting themes of FRD are

FRD has been working in the province of KP including the erstwhile FATA and Punjab Province. with interventions in different sectors that include education, health, livelihoods, food security, WASH, community development and empowerment, Climate change adaptation, women empowerment and youth engagement .
