    Story of WASH committee, who started door to door hygiene campaign in Nawazabad, Peshawar. The committee was formed & mobilized by FRD under ‘Social Mobilization for Effective & Gender Responsive Municipal Services’ program, aimed at improving health & hygiene situation in the 25UCs of Peshawar. After the completion of project,the committee of UC Fiqarabad, by selfhelp, initiated hygiene campaign, by printing & distributing pamphlets containing message of health & hygiene.The aim was to sensitized community to contribute to the betterment of their area & to cooperate with the committees in order to maintain clean & healthy environment.

    In 2005 earthquake, Gandhian high school was severely damaged as the building was quite old. The education department demolished the school as it was unfit for students to study in the building. Therefore students were using tents as class rooms. The situation resulted in decrease in the enrollment over the years. FRD with the support of UNHCR reconstructed school. The interventions encouraged teachers and students and developed their interest in the education and improved the overall enrollment.

    A Gateway to Sustainable Livelihood

    Sitara is one of the 40 trained women who also learned machine repair during skill training provided by FRD. Now she is not only preparing sweaters and other woolen stuff but also adopted machine repair as profession. Sitara additional skill not only improved her monthly income but also made easy for other women as doorstep facilitation.

    FRD improved infrastructure of Government Girls Primary School Attock through construction of boundary wall, provision of toilets and supply of clean drinking water that helped in providing favorable environment for learning and motivated the community to send their children to school thus resulted in increase in the enrollment.

    Repairing the Shattered Dream

    Story of widow who dreamed for her children’s bright and secure future, but one day she found broken pieces of her dream, her shelter and her husband, targeted in bomb blast. FRD couldn’t get her husband back but repaired her dream by securing their children with four walls and a roof.

    Story of unfortunate family who lost their home, livelihood and unity of family as well in floods 2010. FRD provided an opportunity to them to live again as joint family with same unity and love under one roof by provision of permanent shelter under its project of shelter solutions supported by UNHCR.

    Life Met Us Again

    Inzar Gul father of 7 children, deprived of his own home due to floods of 2010 was suffering terrible miseries of camp life from one and half year. His family was exposed to all natural and environmental hazards and they were craving for honorable life but they knew it's just a dream to have a dignified place of living. They were hopeless but one day life met them again when FRD provided safe and secure one room shelter to them where they are living now with proper protection and dignity.

    Story of Bakhat Zaman, a fruit seller whose home and fruit cart was washed away by cruel flood water, is extremely grateful to FRD for providing permanent shelter to them which helped in reviving his livelihood source and enabled his family to cope up with the freezing cold in winter as well as scorching heat in summer.

    A flood affected family who gradually became a drug addicted due to difficult circumstances of camp life. FRD tried to bring positive change in their life by arranging land in village Agra UC Manzory Charsada and constructed permanent shelter for them under its project of shelter solutions supported by UNHCR. This project has benefited them in more ways than one. as FRD not only arranged home for them but also arranged camp level committees for mobilization to revert them back toward healthy life.
