“I was sleeping in my old room with my mentally disable son. Some drops of rain water fell down on my face. My eye sight is very weak so, I did not understand that what is happening in the nature and with my room. Next day, Early in the morning I went to my neighbor house and asked them, she told me that the room is near to fall. I became so worried and after that me and my mentally disable son were so afraid to sleep under my old, frail and fly-by-night room”. Gul Marai said these words with tears in her eyes.
Gul Marai is about sixty years old, living with her sole insane son in village Sharab Kor, about 80 km away from Peshawar, of Tehsil Safi, district Mohmand Agency. She has only one room in the world which was near to fall.
“Me with my mental son spent the rainy day or night in the open sky due to the fear of falling down the room. When I heard about the UNHCR/FRD shelter project, I did not expect that they will give me a shelter or repair my single room to save my son’s and my life because being a single old female I had no such source of links to approach FRD social team. I was thinking how to contact them! Meanwhile FRD team came to my home and saw my falling room themselves they provided me shelter repair kit I can’t express that happy moment in the words.
"At last but not the least, UNHCR shelter project give me the hope to live a new life, and they made me able to spend the rainy day/ night in my own UNHCR/FRD shelter. They enlighten my life and give me a hope to live a rested life with my insane son without any fear.”
