Our Projects To establish a prosperous, peaceful and productive society, FRD is engaged in services delivery both for long term development as well as humanitarian assistance. FRD works with various humanitarian and development actors and also receives support from Individual philanthropists and Public donations. Following is a brief description of our ongoing and completed activities.

Livelihood Program Hindukush (LPH) With support of Inter Cooperation & SDC, FRD is facilitating livelihood development program in Mohmand Agency since July 2011. The successful implementation of the program has paved the way for initiation of a long term program on livelihood development in FATA and Hindukush region extended till 2015.

Reconstruction of Government High School Gandhiyan and Institutionalization of Career Counselling for Students Earthquake of October 2005 damaged multitude of schools in district Mansehra and hundreds of students got killed as a result. GHS Gandhiyan District Mansehra was damaged but fortunately no casualty occurred, however the class rooms were declared unsafe and thus were ordered to be demolished. The students had no other option but to study either in tents or in open sky, which was not conducive to learning by any definition. FRD was successful in getting the funds from RAHA program for re-building the school, revitalizing its PTC and establishing a mechanism of career counselling for students.

Public School Rehabilitation and Capacity Building of Parent Teachers Councils in District Haripur Afghans refugees have been hosted by Pakistan for more than three decades. The majority (70%) of the approximately 1.6 million registered Afghan refugees in Pakistan are living in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province.

Tent Shelters Rehabilitation at Jalozai, Togh Serai and New Durrani IDPS Camp Since 2013, FRD is providing site maintenance services at Jalozai and Tough Serai camp to improve their living conditions. Construction of tent shelters is part of site maintenance activities to cope up with the extreme weather conditions at the camps. Last year FRD installed more than 7000 shelters not only in Jalozai and Tough Serai but also in New Durrani camp Kurram agency.

Improvement of WASH & schools rehabilitation in 31 refugee villages of KPK Pakistan has been hosting one of the largest protracted refugee caseloads in the world-the refugees from Afghanistan. Despite the repatriation of the majority of Afghan refugees in the early 2000s, more than a million could not return, of which the largest population has been residing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province.

Rapid needs assessment and relief interventions for North Waziristan IDPs living at communal placesAfter the start of military operation in the North Waziristan agency thousands of families have fled the agency and took refuge in the nearby districts of Bannu, DI khan, Laki Marwat, Karak , Hangu and Kohat. Although a camp to accommodate these IDPs had been established at Baka Khel (FR Bannu), but instead the families have opted to stay in the host community.

Learning Region on Integrated farming Practices under TVET Reforms Support Unit Pakistan is an agricultural country where majority of the workforce is engaged in various agricultural practices. The agricultural extension and intensification has been known to lead to compromised fertility of the agricultural lands. This fact is further complicated by changing climatic trends regionally and globally.

Baseline Assessment Study for the FATA Livelihoods Program of GIZ Keeping in view the previous expertise of FRD in working for the Livelihoods and its deep understanding of FATA, the GIZ livelihoods component of FATA development Program entered an agreement with FRD to carry out a baseline assessment in 3 Tehsils of Mohmand Agency.

Economic empowerment of semi skilled women in Union Council Wazir Bagh, Peshawar 40 semi-skilled women from the target area Wazir Bagh-Peshawar were selected to improve their skills for contributing in family bread earning and economic uplift. They were provided 2 months skill development training on knitting machines to enable them for knitting gents, ladies and kids woolen wear.

Knowledge sharing of ERKF project with potential business women of FATA from Kurram and Mohmand Agency. Economic Revitalization of Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa and FATA (ERKF) was a Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) project managed by the World Bank and implemented by ERKF-FATA throughout the FATA region. The project aimed at revitalizing and rehabilitating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that suffered due to militancy or the floods of 2010.
