Our Projects

To establish a prosperous, peaceful and productive society, FRD is engaged in services delivery both for long term development as well as humanitarian assistance. FRD works with various humanitarian and development actors and also receives support from Individual philanthropists and Public donations. Following is a brief description of our ongoing and completed activities.
  •  Implementation of Minimum Initial Services Package (MISP) for Reproductive Health for IDP returnees in South Waziristan Agency, FATA'01 January 2017'

    FRD with support of UNFPA improved Basic emergency obstetrics care and provided reproductive health care services in 4 health facilities in South Waziristan under the CERF funding.

    Management of VRCs and Parking area

    Dignified returns of the refugee population have been the top most priority of the Govt. for the last many years. The situation in Afghanistan has improved significantly over the years and both the Governments have been pursuing strategies for voluntary repatriation of the refugee population. To facilitate the voluntary returns UNHCR has established voluntary returns facilitation centers. (VRC and PCM). With recent increased influx at VRCs, FRD established new VRC center at Azakhel and Parking area at Aman garh to accommodate the large vehicles parked on the roads. FRD is also carrying out regular site maintenance activities at both VRCs and paring area.

    Social Mobilization for Effective and Gender Responsive Municipal Services

    Municipal Services Program of the Local government department of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa aims at improving the quality of the municipal services in district Peshawar. This is a USAID funded program. FRD entered an agreement with the MSP on social mobilization in Town 1 of Peshawar city. In this project FRD has carried out an extensive pre project Knowledge, Attitude and Practices survey of 500 households, has formed 200 WASH committees of the community where 50% of the Committees are only for women. Simultaneously FRD is working on establishing 125 school health clubs in the target area, to make the school children, ambassadors of behaviour change regarding Hygiene and Cleanliness. FRD is also working on filling the trust and communication gap between the community and the WSSP (Previously Municipal Corporation of Peshawar) officials, by arranging joint meetings for them, and helping them communicate effectively.
  •  Livelihoods Revival Through Food for Assets Project in Kurram Agency and Orakzai Agency'01 June 2016'

    Livelihoods Revival Through Food for Assets Project in Kurram Agency and Orakzai Agency

    FRD is working with the UNITED NATIONS World Food Programme (WFP) on livelihoods revival and community infrastructure rehabilitation in Kurram Agency and Orakzai Agency. The project objective is to contribute to stabilization of the local economy in the areas of return in Kurram Agency and Orakzai Agency. The interventions are a mixture of early recovery with minor touch of humanitarian assistance for the extremely vulnerable households. The project is implemented in close coordination with the Government line agencies of Agriculture and Political administration. The community members are enrolled in food for work programme where they work on some scheme of communal use or livelihoods rehabilitation and FRD provides them a standard food basket. The previous phase of the project was implemented from June 2015 till December 2015, now the same project is extended and FRD field teams have started working in field
  •  Rule of Law and Access to Justice'01 May 2016'

    Rule of Law and Access to Justice

    FRD entered an agreement with UNDP Rule of law component on 10th February 2016 for supporting the vulnerable population in 24 Union councils of district Kohat through supporting the access to justice. The program is implemented through the modalities of legal help desk in the district bar council and legal aid clinics in the community. The legal help committee has been formed in the district bar council, where pro-bono support will be provided to deserving people for following their cases in the district courts.

    FRD has entered an agreement with UNHCR for Providing Shelter repair kit assistance to returnee TDPs in South Waziristan Agency.

    Social Cohesion and Livelihoods Revival in Bara Khyber Agency

    FRD with the support of UNDP, FATA rehabilitation and recovery program is implementing a project on the social cohesion and livelihoods for retunees in Bara Khyber Agency.

    Millions of Afghans refugees have been hosted by Pakistan and despite steady voluntary returns over the years, a large number still reside in refugee villages and urban areas of Pakistan. Most of the refugee community is residing in Khyber pakhtunkhwa. There is significant number of refugee populations living within the host community while almost half of the population is living in the refugee villages across KP.

    FRD as a 3rd party monitoring partner of UNHABITAT, conducted Monitoring and validation of Shelter and WASH project, implemented by MHI in the target areas of district Bannu, Lakimarwat and DI khan.

    Pakistan is a developing country, faced with so many issues and problems starting from its independence from the British rule about 66 years ago. The country is still in the developing phase and thus having limited resources and infrastructure. In spite of all issues the country is hosting millions of refugees from Afghanistan.
