Kurram Agency and Orakzai Agency are two of the 7 tribal agencies that jointly form the area called FATA in Pakistan. Both the agencies of Kurram and Orakzai have been experiencing sectarian violence and later on militancy. To overcome the militancy and re-establish the writ of the state the government of Pakistan carried out military operations in both the agencies. The military operations have cleared the area of militants, however the operation displaced hundreds of thousands of people from their homes. After the area has been declared safe by the government for return of the people, the people have been returning to their areas of origin. One of the sustainable solution for the returnee population is to support them in revival of their livelihoods.
