Danish Refugee Council (DRC)
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organisation founded in 1956 that works in more than 30 countries throughout the world. DRC actively participates in supporting the protection of refugees, and promoting durable solutions for conflict-affected populations. An estimated 1 million Afghan refugees reside in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The vast majority are exposed to long-term displacement, facing unhygienic conditions in camp. Keeping this in view, DRC and FRD joined hands to improve health and hygiene conditions of Afghan refugees, under its project of hygiene promotion and hygiene kits distribution.
This partnership is primarily aimed to achieve sustainable positive behavioral change regarding Health & Hygiene among 100% School Children of targeted Refugee villages in KPK, especially in Peshawar, Mardan & Swabi through hygiene promotion sessions and awareness raising by using child to child and community based approaches followed by distribution of hygiene kits.
