FRD and UNHCR Provide immediate relief as well as plan Long term solutions.A few days back an appeal was launched for flood affected population who are still living in spontaneous camps. A Very Good News is that FRD in partnership with UNHCR has provided Quilts and plastic sheets to these families to provide some emergency relief to guard against the severe cold, in the meantime FRD has negotiated with a few land owners, who were kind enough to provide legal ownership to few families on very reasonable cost.

Specific Appeal for arranging land for homeless and landless people in Charsadda and Nowshehra Launched “WE CAN’T HELP EVERYONE BUT EVERYONE CAN HELP SOMEONE" Today (on Sunday) an emergency meeting of management committee of FRD was held. Purpose of the meeting was to discuss the miseries of the flood affected population who lost their homes in flood 2010 in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa in Charsadda and Nowshehra and are still living in spontaneous camps due to scarcity of resources.

More than 7900 small and large animals vaccinated and de wormed in 12 villages of Tehsil Halim ZaiFRD in partnership with inter-cooperation has completed its activity of deworming and vaccination in 12 villages of upper Gandow Tehsil Haleemzai, Mohmand Agency. It has benefited 7997 animals including 1675 large and 6322 small animals.

Work on community infrastructure in LP in Mohmand Speeded UpFRD is facilitating the Livelihood Program of Intercooperation in Tehsil Halimzai of Mohmand Agency. Community Based Organizations in the selected villages have been formed and RRA had been carried out in the villages. To build the capacity of the local CBOs CMST training had been arranged for the VOs/CBOs who were identified for implementation of physical infrastructure schemes.

Shelter Repair Kit assistance started for returnees of conflict affected area of Mohmand Agency. FRD with support of UN agencies for refugees (UNHCR) has started provision of shelter repair kits to the returnees inside Mohmand Agency. Working area of FRD, Tehsil Safi has experienced the longest conflict situation and hence the damages in shelter and community infrastructure are the greatest. Among the non governmental organizations working in the area FRD is among the very few organizations who have opted for working for the benefit of the extremely suffered portion of the IDPs.

Return of IDPs from Nahqi Camp in Mohmand CompletedAfter the government has declared majority of the areas in Mohmand safe for return, IDPs have started returning. The 1st return from Nahqi IDPs camp in this phase of return took place on 11th of October 2011. For the last many days the IDPs inside the camp and outside the camp were filling voluntary return forms (VRFs).

New influx of IDPs to Nahqi Camp from Baizai Area StartedAs the Military Operation Continues more Internally Displaced Families reach IDPs camp at Nahqi. This is to be noted that the military operation was started in various parts of Mohmand Agency in January 2011, and two camps were established at Nahqi and Danishkool for the IDPs. Later on Danishkool Camp was closed due to return of the IDPs from it to their places of origin but Nahqi Camp continues to host families from various conflict affected areas of the agency.

IDPs In Nahqi Camp Receive Eid Package from FRD, supported by UNHCRAs the holy month of Ramadhan for muslims all over the world is coming to end, preparation for the celebration of Eid gain momentum. The markets get crowded with customers who are busy in purchasing various food commodities, Clothes, Shoes and other gifts.

Poorest flood affected families receive Eid Food Package in district Charsadda The poor flood affected families in district Charsadda receive Eid Food Package. A few philanthropist sponsored distribution of Eid food package for 300 families. 250 families received their packages in Tehsil Charsadda while 50 families received the package in Tehsil Tangi.
