Special Eid ul Adha cleanliness awareness campaign by FRD - USAID under MSP project in 25 UCs of town 1 in Peshawar

Special Eid Ul Adha cleanliness awareness campaign was arranged by FRD with support of USAID under MSP project named "Hygiene promotion through awareness in 25 uc of town 1 in peshawar".

The main aim of the campaign was to convey message of cleanliness among community, ahead of Eid ul adha. As many people slaughter their animals outside their home, on road side or in streets, thus leaving the remains of animals in the streets or in drains which in turn creating very unhygienic environment. People were sensitized to take the responsibility of the cleanliness of their street by not throwing animal wastes in public places, streets or drains. They were encouraged to use specific places for the slaughter waste from where the WSSP team will collect all the disposal of sacrificial animals to maintain the cleanliness of the town.

It is to be noted that along with hygiene campaigns, FRD has also carried out an extensive pre project Knowledge, Attitude and Practices survey of 500 households, has formed 200 WASH committees of the community where 50% of the Committees are only for women. Simultaneously FRD is working on establishing 125 school health clubs in the target area, to make the school children, ambassadors of behaviour change regarding Hygiene and Cleanliness. FRD is also working on filling the trust and communication gap between the community and the WSSP (Previously Municipal Corporation of Peshawar) officials, by arranging joint meetings for them, and helping them communicate effectively.
