FRD and UNHCR Provide immediate relief as well as plan Long term solutions.

A few days back an appeal was launched for flood affected population who are still living in spontaneous camps. A Very Good News is that FRD in partnership with UNHCR has provided Quilts and plastic sheets to these families to provide some emergency relief to guard against the severe cold, in the meantime FRD has negotiated with a few land owners, who were kind enough to provide legal ownership to few families on very reasonable cost.
Some families will purchase the land on installments and the installments are fixed as low as 7$ a month for some families, but other families will still need assistance in acquiring land, and FRD is planning to utilize the philanthropist funds as wisely as possible to benefit more and more individuals. Once the lands are arranged, negotiations with UNHCR are underway, who will support the shelter construction. Even when the shelters are constructed, we want these families to stand on their own feet so that they don't rely on aid and assistance any more. We want them to start some sort of livelihoods. We do have some planning, but we will need your contribution as well. What can you contribute:- (1) Your Expert Advice if you have worked on similar projects. (2) Your Moral support through your wishes and your discussions with your friends and families (3) Training material for illiterate people who can utilize those trainings for earning their livelihoods (4) Financial support for the project on starting the livelihood for these vulnerable families. Please do keep on checking www.frd.org.pk website and do share your inputs through info@frd.org.pk.
